T153 trapezoidal sheet - structural role and application
High-frame trapezoidal sheets are the main or secondary load-bearing elements of roof and slab structures, supported on beams, trusses or frames. The plates are connected longitudinally and laterally by overlapping, with bolts or rivets per side and with a minimum of 200 mm spacing in the longitudinal direction.

Static model
- The T153 high-braced trapezoidal plates act statically as beam supports.
- The model can be double or multi-post
- The burden is mostly evenly distributed.
- The span and run-out dimensions are adapted to the structural system and are used as a basis for sizing.
- Other construction software is recommended for more complex models (e.g. different spacing, variable stiffness, unequal loads)
Material and design
- T153 trapezoidal plates are made of cold-rolled galvanized steel, typically in material grade S350GD
- The design thickness is given net of the anchor coating, the effective cross-section is taken into account in the structural calculations.
- The galvanized coating provides corrosion protection, but does not increase the load capacity in static calculations.
Load capacity and sizing
- The load tests are carried out in accordance with Eurocode 3 (EN 1993-1-3), a standard for thin-walled cold-formed structures.
- Investigated failure modes of trapezoidal plates:
- bending failure (torque resistance),
- spine shear (shear resistance),
- spinal burst (local denting due to reaction forces),
- torque-shear and torque-reaction force interaction.

Limiting state of use
- The T153 high rib slab must also meet stiffness and walkability requirements.
- The degree of deflection (e.g. L/200, L/300 limits) is limited by standard serviceability specifications.
